I can’t begin to tell everyone reading this what a great experience the
last two weeks of hockey was for me. To watch the greatest talent in
the world come together on one stage was simply amazing. We saw all of our athletic
role models from all over the NHL display amazing team work, and show us all how
important playing for your country is. I can guarantee that Sidney Crosby will cherish
his gold medal more than his Stanley Cup victory last year, and the young United States
team will be hungry for revenge in 4 years. (Let’s just hope that Gary Bettman makes
the right decision and allows the NHL players to participate in Russia!)

2010 Winter/Spring High School and Middle School League Info

There will be a High School and Middle School League meeting for all Coaches, Managers,
and Directors on Thursday, February 11th at 7:00pm at the Fieldhouse.
A representative from every team must be present.

• The 2010 Winter/Spring High School and Middle School Season will begin play on
March 1st and will wrap up with the State tournament May 14th - 16th.
(Middle Schools will have playoffs as normal)
• Any schools or teams needing tryout times or practice dates should notify Matt now.
• All new teams should call Matt ASAP and should be at the meeting.

If you have never played at State Wars before or ever attended a state tryout, here is what you must know. First, every tryout is run by staff from State Wars Hockey that are flown in specifically to evaluate all players. Our evaluators are not from the state in question and every player has a fair shot to make their team.

Second, all tryouts are NO RISK. Yes if you come out to the tryout and are not selected for your state team, then you receive a FULL REFUND. So in the end you get two hours of rink time and a State Wars tryout jersey, just for coming out and having some fun. Last, each state may have up to 2 teams in each single birth year. Our staff looks to select a AAA/AA and A level team to come play at State Wars. So no matter what your level, there is a spot for you.

We are now taking registrations for the Winter II Sessions. Remember the Mini Mites instructional league is for players 6 & Under. Learn to Play is offered to all ages.

First week is March 6th and we will meet every Saturday for 6 weeks.
(taking March 20th off for tournament).

DETROIT STARS AND LITTLE CAESARS ROLLER HOCKEY

It was inevitable that sooner or later the Detroit Mission Stars roller hockey program would go back to its original home. The DMS program began at Joe Dumars Fieldhouse with one team back in 1996. Since their inception the team has gone on to win 4 national championships and is currently playing in the Pro Division. This team has produced some real talent over the years, with 5 players playing in the NHL along with a number of them who played at the collegiate level.
